How to Make Natural Coffee Creamer

Sharing is caring!

Like many others, I struggle to get out of bed in the mornings without a cup of coffee in hand. My husband, bless him, brings me coffee complete with my homemade natural coffee creamer, in bed almost every single day. He’s a saint like that.

If I’m being honest, I don’t love coffee for coffee’s sake. I love coffee for its ability to help me get moving in the morning. Having a good coffee creamer, in my opinion, greatly improves the drinkability of coffee. However, I don’t love that most store-bought flavored coffee creamers are loaded with ingredients I can’t pronounce. Due to my multiple chronic health issues, I’ve been on a mission to eat as cleanly as possible by replacing most store-bought convenience foods with quick and easy homemade alternatives.

After experimenting with some recipes, I’ve come up with a delicious, healthy, all-natural coffee creamer recipe that I’m sure to use for years to come. This recipe is easy, quick, highly adaptable to your personal taste, and best of all, uses just 4 ingredients!

Heavy cream, sugar, skim milk, and pure vanilla extract is all it takes to make this delicious creamer.

Tools you might need

I love to use my trusty Ball Mason Jars as measuring cups for this recipe. My 2qt enamel cast iron saucepan is perfect for this natural coffee creamer. My enamel cast iron saucepan was found at Aldi, but this one would likely work very well, too. I like to store my finished creamer in a repurposed quart milk bottle. You can find similar bottles here. These stainless-steel measuring cups and stainless-steel funnels are great to ensure a low-mess transfer. I love my silicone spatula for this recipe because there’s no plastic to worry about breaking or melting into the recipe. I also found my spatula at Aldi, but whenever I need a new one, I’ll be getting one of these.

This recipe is super easy and only takes about 20-25 minutes to prepare. To get started, you’ll need equal parts heavy cream, milk, and sugar for this recipe. Next, get out your 2 qt enamel cast iron saucepan. Add heavy cream to saucepan and turn stove to medium-low. Then, add sugar. Stir intermittently until sugar has fully dissolved. Once the sugar has fully dissolved, add pure vanilla extract and stir. Once your cream, sugar, and vanilla mixture starts to look a little frothy or starts to bubble gently, turn off the heat and mix in skim milk. Transfer to glass milk jar, cap, and refrigerate. Enjoy with your next cup of coffee!

Step by step instructions for Making Natural Coffee Creamer

First, pour heavy cream into saucepan and heat over medium-low.

Next, add sugar to your saucepan and gently stir intermittently until dissolved.

Once sugar has dissolved, add vanilla to the pot and stir until well incorporated. Be sure to pay careful attention to the cream as you want it to eventually start gently bubbling, but not to reach a full simmer or boil.

Next, continue stirring gently until the cream, sugar, and vanilla start to bubble a little, or reach the beginning of a simmer.

Finally, turn off heat, add skim milk, mix well, and transfer to a milk jar. Refrigerate immediately.

Or, if you’re like me, go ahead and grab one of your favorite coffee mugs, brew a pot of your favorite coffee, and enjoy a cup using your fresh batch of homemade, from scratch, natural coffee creamer, then refrigerate!

This coffee creamer lasts up to two weeks in the fridge. But if you like this super easy, natural coffee creamer as much as my family and I do, you’ll use it up in no time!
